The core of the softball weighs in at 7oz. and is made from Kapok. The core of any softball can be made from a variety of materials depending on its price and quality, but only high-quality balls use a kapok core. Kapok cores are made from fibers of the kapok tree that is grown in the tropical climates of Central America and Western Africa.
